General Directorate for Environmental Protection acquired additional financing from EU's financial instrument LIFE and start completion of a project National awareness raising campaign Discover Your Nature. Project is financing from two sources - EU's financial instrument LIFE (50%) and National Fund of Environmental Protection and Water Management (50%).

As the Natura 2000 Network in Poland comprises almost 19,8 % of the country's area at the moment, it determines substantial influence on the economy and society not only on the local or regional scale. Furthermore, in line with idea of the Natura 2000 which means that it comprises the ‘protection areas' not the typically ‘protected ones', the Network is located on different kinds of territory - farms with agricultural activities, development sites, forests as well as national parks.

The implementation of the Natura 2000 Network in Poland is facing various troubles and difficulties. Therefore the main goal of the project is to raise awareness on environmental nature protection and biodiversity conservation issues under the Programme Nature 2000 in order to meet the EU ecological requirements.

The term of the project: 1 July 2012 - 30 September 2015
