Natural Working Groups
Natural Working Groups shall be composed of representatives from different backgrounds - Regional Directorates for Environmental Protection, local government representatives, NGOs and others, active in the areas covered by the project "Discover your Nature". Natural Working Groups in cooperation with the Mediator drew up the Strategy - Conflict resolution in Natura 2000 Network.
We established five Natural Working Groups in project
- Natural Working Group Białowieża Forest PLC200004,
- Natural Working Group Bats’ Refugees in Beskid Wyspowy PLH12005,
- Natural Working Group Lesser Polish Gorge of the Vistula PLB14000,
- Natural Working Group Notec River Valley and Bydgoszcz Canal area PLB30000,
- Natural Working Group Bieszczady mountains PLC18000;
Establishment of NGR was an operation at the local level, inherent to the specificity of each
Natura 2000 sites and the needs of its residents. From this point of view, particularly important in working with the Nature Working Groups was the involvement of the Moderator - experienced in social consultations and the resolution of social conflicts, including those related to the Natura 2000 network. Moderator task was to analyze each individual, identified in the draft, types of conflicts, as well as the selection of techniques and methods of solving them, and then preparation, as a result of NWG meetings, joint action plans and scenarios of conflict resolution.
Within the measure:
• there were conducted an analysis of 5 types of conflicts on the basis of case studies together with possible scenarios,
• there were prepared 5 joint action plans - documents, which are jointly developed by representatives of the Nature Working Groups action plan, taking into account both the
development of the Natura 2000 site and the needs of different stakeholders, as well as a contribution to the documents concerning the ‚nature’ municipalities’ ,as well as scenarios for resolving conflicts for certain types of social conflicts around the Natura 2000 network - one for each of the 5 Natura 2000 sites covered by the project,
• 5 study visits were conducted, one for each of the Nature Working Groups, to the Member States of the European Union, whose aim was to acquire and exchange of experience and knowledge on solutions that can serve as good practices in reaching acompromise on the different types of conflicts which are the subject of the project, reconcile the interests of different parties (environment social and economic protection).
Natural Working Group Białowieża Forest PLC200004 visited projects in Ostrava (Czech Republic) "INFOMS - Unified information and communication system for nature conservation in NUTS II Moravia-Silesia" and "Preservation of alluvial forest habitats in the Morávka river basin" the Moravian-Silesian Region in cooperation with partners.
Natural Working Group Bats’ Refugees in Beskid Wyspowy PLH12005 visited project in Presov (Slovakia)- "APUS & NYCTALUS - Protection of Common Swift (Apus apus) and bats in buldings in Slovakia (BIODIV)" Regional Association for Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development.
Natural Working Group Lesser Polish Gorge of the Vistula PLB14000 visited Room for the River Programm in Deventer (the Netherlands).
Natural Working Group Notec River Valley and Bydgoszcz Canal area PLB30000 visited The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in Glasgow (Scotland).
Natural Working Group Bieszczady mountains PLC18000 visited projects in Vrchlabi (Czech Republic).
